FSU’s hype keeps building

I heard it, and I know you heard it when Florida State hosted Wake Forest earlier this season, that it was the most important home game of the decade. It was the Seminoles chance to plant that proverbial flaming spear back at the top of the ACC. And what happened? A 12-3 loss against the Demon Deacons.

Well, here we go again. Game of the Century (for the umpteenth time!!) Saturday against Virginia Tech. With a Seminoles win and Wake Forest loss against Miami, the Seminoles can just win out and secure their spot in the ACC title game in Tampa. Although it seems the Seminoles’ best chance of stopping Virginia Tech is containing QB Tyrod Taylor, another big boost would be having Dekoda Watson able to play on the defensive end. He just might play. Click here. At fullback, Marcus Sims not only has played a big role in the Seminoles’ rushing attack, he also is finding a name for himself. One can only refer to him as the younger brother of ex-FSU star and current player Ernie Sims for so long. Click here.

This is obviously a huge conference game for FSU. but it will be the first time the two teams have met in conference play in Tallahassee. Click here.

Now, as for our hometown guys D’Vontrey Richadson and James Esco? Esco will handle kickoffs again, but it remains to be seen if Richardson will see playing time. He was recently promoted from third to second string so that can only be a good sign, right? But let’s face it. starter Christian Ponder played a solid game against North Carolina State last week, passing for 254 yards. In my mind, Ponder really has to throw his first four or five passes to Hokie defenders or get injured for Richardson to see playing time under center.

Will D’Vo see playing time elsewhere? Well, he’s practiced in the past at positions such as special teams. so it’s not out of the question.
