Game over: Randolph Southern 14, Terrell Academy 4

In the bottom of the fifth, the Patriots added two runs on a Patrick Jackson grounder with runners at second and third that resulted in an error by Eagles shortstop Jon Brock. Although two runs scored, only one was officially counted since that first run made it, 14-4, which accounted for a 10-run lead which caused the game to be called. Game 2 is 1 p.m. Saturday.

Randolph Southern now has a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 GISA Class A championship series in baseball. More details about Friday’s game in Saturday’s Herald

Jon Brock had an RBI single, a Matt Brown groundout scored another run and then another Eagle scored on an error to move the Terrell Academy within 13-4. Randolph Southern now is up to bat in the bottom of the fifth

Clutch two-out hits by Randolph Southern and Terrell Academy errors have blown Game 1 of the GISA Class A championship series wide open.  Eagles starter Brady Copeland was just taken out of the game, and Hogan Skandamis has replaced him.  There is just one out and the Patriots have scored 5 runs this inning

The Patriots threatened to score yet again before the third was over. With runners at first and third, however, Jon Floyd flied to right to end the inning.

The two-out drama continues with the Eagles. With two outs in the bottom of the third, the Patriots have added three more runs. Terrell just had a meeting at the mound and starter Brady Copeland will stay in the game.

Two Eagles errors score two runs, and then the Patriots make it 5-1 with a run-scoring base hit by Jon Floyd. all three runs were scored with two outs.
